A plunger or a chemical pour usually opens a narrow channel through the blockage without removing it, so the clog rebuilds in days or weeks. A drain that clogs repeatedly in the same spot also points to a bigger cause — a low spot in the line, root intrusion, hardened grease, or a venting problem. Clearing the full diameter of the pipe and finding the cause is what makes it stay fixed.
We don't recommend them. They rarely clear a real blockage, they generate heat that can damage older pipes and seals, and whatever doesn't work just sits in the line as caustic liquid that the next person to open that pipe has to deal with. Mechanical clearing is safer and actually removes the blockage instead of eating a hole through it.
